This video shows a circling approach, in essence an instrument approach to one runway to get the airport in sight and then “circling” - kind of a traffic pattern -to the opposite runway or to another runway at this airport. The reasons can be different: sometimes there is no approach available for the landing runway or the minimums for the straight in approach to the runway are not adequate for...

    Whats the max altitide it can maintain a cabin alt of 10,000?

  • @someone.7303
    @someone.7303 4 дні тому

    Couldn't the A/P be disengaged using the red button next to the trim switches like usual in other aircraft? Also, did you have to depressurize the cabin after landing? Is it necessary to turn off the engine bleeds before shutdown or should they stay open?

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 4 дні тому

      If you disengage the AP with the BRB big red bottom the yaw damper disengages too. Not comfortable for the passengers in the King Air 350 with the long cabin. I use the BRB just before landing only. The pressurization is set to 500ft above landing elevation, so the cabin should be depressurized before landing. Part of the checklist. If all goes wrong, the weight on wheel switch on the landing gear will open the outflow valve and depressurizes the cabin after touch down. The bleed valves should be cycled to the position “instruments only” before engine start. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please subscribe to my channel - thank you for your support.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 14 днів тому

      Hi Enrique, unlike other videos you may see on UA-cam, my videos are not to "show off". The title of the video is "Landing with 47knots wind". Not "crosswind". 47 knots crosswind would be not possible in a Cessna Caravan. As I show in the video, the crosswind component was only 16 knots. ua-cam.com/video/NZmQI5r_zaM/v-deo.htmlsi=J6hu8WS7UpAHViJC&t=267 I assume you have overlooked this. Otherwise I would struggle to understand your negativity and the arrogance you show in your comment. As you also see in the video, the taxing (now with full crosswind) was the real challenging part. But I can assure you, these flight conditions were demanding. This was not "barely any crosswind". If you do not believe me, try it yourself in a Caravan next time. I fly larger airplanes too - up to GLF3 - and can assure you that it gets easier with higher aircraft weight and higher Vref. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

    Excellent video, just a question though. During all of my pilot training, I was taught to turn off ALL avionics before pulling the fuel mixture to stop the engine. I noticed it appears you did not do this. Was I trained to be too conservative about abusing the avionics?

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 20 днів тому

      Thank you Michael. You raise an interesting point. Important is to follow procedures. important is also to understand WHY a procedure is established. In older aircraft,, we switch in the avionics AFTER engine start, with the alternator/generator on and a constant voltage (typically 28V) is established in the electrical systems and in the avionics bus. that feeds the avionics. Voltage spikes during engine start are (to my knowledge) the risk that can potentially damage the avionics. hence the sequence: engine start first, then avionics ON. In the G1000, the avionics have a separate battery, in fact you have to switch in one screen to get engine gauges (RPM etc.) before you can start the engine. So in these aircraft all is much less critical. When shutting down the engine. you will not have any voltage spike. You can switch off the avionics afterwards. However if in doubt: follow the checklist procedure. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please consider subscribing to my UA-cam Channel and hit the "notification bell". Thanks for your reply, Capt. Guido. I've already subscribed to your channel! You spent a week in Sendai? As you know, there is a branch of the National Aviation College. Although the airport itself is a regional one, you have active training going on. BTW, did you try Sendai's famous beef tongue steak? Wish you have a safe flight and also looking forward to your new upload.

    Clearly, you have the skills to make the best of it. Very impressive. But if your single piston engine fails in IFR conditions, you're basically f*cked, right? Seems like a big risk to take.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 23 дні тому

      Hi Tobias, you have a good point here. The survival aspect of an engine failure IFR flying depends mostly on: > day or night condition, visibility > the terrain > the cloud base Out of the many risks, a mechanical engine failure (nor fuel related) is a VERY rare event The Cirrus aircraft have a parachute for these are cases. In comparison to other risks we take in life, single engine IFR flying is safe. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido Please consider subscribing to my UA-cam Channel and hit the "notification bell". Non professional pilots should understand the big distinction between simple instrument flight, flight into conditions with no visual horizon and instrument flight into weather. A not uncommon situation can be found flying at night out over water or with no moon or over terrain with few or no lights on the ground or over an undercast. Flight into weather adds the additional challenges of icing, turbulence and the possibility of having at last minute a requirement to divert to an alternate if landing minimums at your destination go below your personal or equipment minimums. I believe JFKJR, JOHN JOHN KENNEDY was killed along with other family members on what became a night flight to Martha’s Vineyard in New England. It is easy to become task saturated flying single pilot IFR.

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 23 дні тому

      You have a very valid point. Instrument flying is very safe but it also requires a safe pilot with proper training, experience, currency and the right equipment in the cockpit. And the pilot to be familiar with the equipment, e.g. the autopilot. JFK Jr. (R.I.P.) was a relatively inexperienced pilot who did not have an instrument rating yet, might have started the training. The conditions he flew in are very very prone to lose control over the aircraft. Night, limited visibility. no visual reference points on the horizon/ground. I do not know what the motivation was to start the flight under these conditions knowing the arrival would be in the dark. For a moment, the entire Avation community was in fear that the FAA would ban VFR night flying. Luckily id did not happen. When I did my VFR night rating in Canada many moons ago, one of the requirements was 10 hours flight training "under the hood" with reference to instruments only. I think that is a wise idea. 3:15 that WCA is crazy, it must have been very strong crosswind

    • @GuidoWarnecke
      @GuidoWarnecke 23 дні тому

      The crosswind was significant. especially for a slow aircraft as the C182 is. Important is to use the full deflection of ailerons and rudder to keep the aircraft under control. if the aircraft starts to drift away from the runway centerline, then it's time to look for another airport with better conditions. Here another example of crosswind conditions, this was near the safe limits: ua-cam.com/video/lesuz_dlKcg/v-deo.htmlsi=ucvWWhdPpwlkrbN8&t=154 Happy Landings, Capt.
